Eligibility queries
We appreciate that it can be difficult to determine whether or not you are eligible to apply for BBSRC funding. Before you submit a proposal we encourage you to resolve any issues you identify.
As a first point of contact we encourage you to discuss with colleagues at your own Institution the issues that you have identified. Following this we recommend that you consult:

If, following this process, you are still unable to resolve your query, we recommend you contact us to resolve the issues prior to submission.
Please note BBSRC will only accept eligibility queries via e-mail. All queries should be submitted to: eligibility@bbsrc.ac.uk.
Applicants seeking clarification via the telephone will be redirected to send an e-mail query.
In order for us to provide you with the most appropriate information, you will need to submit the following details:
- A short description outlining your query
- A detailed CV for the applicant(s) the query concerns
- Any additional supporting information you may deem relevant, such as a letter from your Head of Department detailing the nature and responsibilities of a particular post or fellowship
Queries received to this inbox will be reviewed once a week, we will acknowledge receipt of your e-mail within one week and you should typically expect a response to your query within two working weeks.
Applicants should include the BBSRC's response to their query within a covering letter when submitting their proposal, this will prevent further lengthy iteration following submission.
